Dr. Spencer B. Olmstead is an Associate Professor in the Department of Child and Family Studies at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Olmstead’s research focuses on young adults’ romantic and sexual relationships. His attention has recently turned to understanding how early sexual health education promotes safer sex practices among emerging adults as well as investigating parent-child sexual communication within the context of conservative religious communities.

Jenae Bluhm, M.S., Doctoral Student (she/her)

Jenae Bluhm is a doctoral student in the Department of Child and Family Studies at the University of Tennessee. Her research focuses on sexual assault, sexual consent, and sexual socialization. Recently, her research has focused on sexual guilt/shame, as well as the dualistic (positive and negative) role that religiosity plays in committed romantic relationships, within the context of Critical Whiteness and Hegemonic Masculinity.
